Re-Membering Purpose.

“if i chose to be born

what was the purpose i hoped

to fulfill? why now?“

Have you ever wondered what your purpose in life is? Have you been guided by curiosity or forced by circumstances to face your deepest fears, reexamine who you are, what you want out of life and how to advocate for change?  In a series of intimate letters to herself, her ancestors and the earth, author Ife Afriye Kilimanjaro re-examines key moments in her life in search for answers to these and other existential questions, while offering strategies to the reader to guide their own respective journeys.  She then draws from her experiences as a grandmother, healer, sociologist, environmentalist and earth steward to offer lessons learned along the way.

What is Re-Membering Purpose about?

In short, Re-Membering Purpose is a conversation spanning over 20 years between me and my soul, ancestors, spirit guides and nature about questions of purpose: What is my purpose in this lifetime? What is my purpose within the context of the blood and spiritual lineages that move through me? What is my purpose as a member of a species that has done great harm to others of its kind, to non-human relatives and to the earth.

Written in the form of letters, each conversation weaves together personal inflection points with broader societal issues - such as climate change, sexual abuse and abortion rights - and invites the reader to consider this methodology as they consider their own life purpose(s).
