Day 1: Black August

Today i honor those who fought for me and countless others so that our lives and choices might be different and better. And though the question of ‘better’ could be debated (as each generation is presented with its own set of inherited injustices), their decision to fight on the side of justice and liberation for Black people affirms for me that our lives do matter. That the lives of the people now living and those yet to be born are worthy of our continued freedom fights. To our freedom fighters, i give thanks. May your sacrifices be not in vain.
