Day 4 Black August
this morning on the news i was assaulted by well meaning, i assume, white folks. they wanted to tell the world how messed up the republicans are by their complicity with the most reactionary elements of their party. my mind wants to keep up on these sorts of things, you know, the direction the wind is blowing. but what my heart felt and what surfaced in my body were reminders of the many many generations of terror black people have endured, suffered, lived through, fought against, created families and experienced joy within, however tenuous and fleeting. once again we stand in this moment in history where hard won “rights” are being systematically stripped away, reminding us that as quickly as they come, they can go.
the work of freedom fighters continues to be as necessary now as it has been for us throughout history.
