Day 140: One week ago today

One week ago today i heard from my sister for the first time. Ancestry told me i had one back in January but time and circumstance didn’t allow for connection. Until now. Funny thing that ancestry is. Telling you things that you didn’t ask for.

One week ago today i learned that my sister has a sister, who is also my sister. Both much younger than i, interesting and sweet people. We are all deeply curious about one another, our lives, what brought us together at this stage in our lives.

One week ago today floods of new emotions burst my worlds wide open. So much to process in my mind, so much felt in my body. So much closer to understanding parts of myself that didn’t make sense. I see parts of myself in parts of themselves.

One week ago today doors opened that internal work over the past few years made possible. Uncomfortable at times, but wholly welcome. And necessary.
