Day 7 Black August

when I think about black liberation and those past and present who’ve fought for our freedom, i think about the nsamanfo (ancestors) and abosom (deities) who also support our fight for justice. i continue to be inspired by the spiritualists who commanded, worked with, invoked these beings in haiti’s revolutionary fights, for example. i think about the importance of continuing these relationships long after intense moments of struggle in order to sustain hard earned wins. i think about my own relationship with these divine beings and the fires they help to keep alive in me as i move this this life. and i am grateful.
